MATRIMONY
In Matrimony a baptized man and woman are united with each other as a sign of the unity between Jesus and His Church. Matrimony requires the consent of the couple, as expressed in the marriage promises. The couple and their wedding rings are the signs of this sacrament.
TO BEGIN THE PROCESS
Please contact the parish office at least four months in advance of the proposed wedding date to set up an introductory meeting with Fr. Kevin Oiland, (509) 926-5428.
BASIC CRITERIA
Spokane Diocesan norms require that at least one of the parties be a Roman Catholic and that four months be allowed for preparing for the sacrament of marriage. This entails that your presiding Roman Catholic priest or deacon has established your "freedom to marry" prior to a wedding date being confirmed.
IF THIS IS A SECOND MARRIAGE
In the instance of any prior marriages of either party, no date can be set until a Decree of Nullity is attained through the appropriate diocese. Fr. Kevin Oiland can answer any questions regarding annulments as well as guide you through the process if need be.
